Class of 2013 ball-carrier Micah Reed (Crestview, Fla.) committed to play for Central Florida on Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect claims additional scholarship offers from Florida (the Gators have two ESPNU 150 Watch List RB commitments), Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati, Purdue, Florida International and Western Kentucky. Other programs such as Alabama, Notre Dame and USC were showing interest according to the Sentinel.
"I want to inspire other kids to commit to UCF because I want to train together and have a good class come with me," he said. "We can do big things together. I think we would all be good motivation for each other. We can help UCF take the next step."
"I really feel like their program was perfect for me," Reed continued. "They offer a good education. I really like that. They have good facilities, the coaches are great and I'll have an opportunity to contribute. I just think it was the right fit."
Reed also mentioned Central Florida's upcoming move to the Big East and recent tradition of strong running back production as two other factors in his decision.
He is UCF's first commitment for 2013.
