Mississippi State stays hot on the trail

Four-star, ESPN 300 dual-threat quarterback Cord Sandberg (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee) has committed to suit up for Mississippi State, multiple sources report.

"I wanted to play football in the SEC," Sandberg told the Commercial Appeal. "That was important to me. I know what Coach Mullen has done with other quarterbacks and I wanted to be a part of that."

Auburn, Arizona, Iowa State, Western Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, North Carolina, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Baylor, West Virginia, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Illinois, and Texas Tech also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 200-pound signal-caller.

As a junior, Sandberg threw for 2,187 yards and 19 touchdowns while also rushing for 813 yards and 10 more scores.

Mississippi State received another commitment Monday night from 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive lineman Chris Jones (Houston, Miss.), according to multiple sources. The Bulldogs have seven verbals for 2013.
