Scouts: Vandy boosts passing offense

In our opinion, Dominic Walker is a major land for Vandy as we believe this is a receiver who would have continued to see his recruiting stock rise after an impressive camp circuit. While he lacks elite top-end speed, he can still stretch a defense vertically and has a big pair of reliable hands to develop into a future go-to target for the Commodores.

Walker can make the big downfield grab outside the numbers or shield defenders over the middle for difficult intermediate catches. What really stands out is his combination of quickness and strength. He can break press coverage or eat up a corner's cushion with his impressive drive off the line. We expect him to compete for playing time right away and believe his jump-ball skills will be difficult to ignore in the redzone.

The Florida native is another potential steal on offense at the receiver position joining Carlos Burse (Alpharetta, Ga.), who also offers impressive size-to-speed combination on the outside.

James Franklin is certainly putting the pieces together that will be needed to boost this passing offense. Aside from bringing in a pair of big and athletic receiving targets, he has guys that will be able to throw to them with four-star QBs Chad Kanoff (North Hollywood, Calif./Harvard Westlake) and Johnathon McCrary (Ellenwood, Ga./Cedar Grove) on board.
