Antonio Allen (Indianapolis/Ben Davis), the nation's No. 19 safety prospect, committed Thursday to play for Indiana, multiple sources report. Allen originally picked Ole Miss in April but decommitted from the Rebels in July.
ESPN said of Allen, "His explosive playing strength, coupled with speed, balance and agility may make it difficult to keep him off the field early in his collegiate career." Indiana, which finished 114th nationally in points against last season, may need Allen to step in immediately.
Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Purdue and Wisconsin also offered the coveted four-star talent. Other programs such as Georgia Tech, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oregon recruited Allen earlier in the process.
Allen is now unanimously recognized as the Hoosier's top-rated commitment. Indiana has seven total verbals for 2013.
IU coach Kevin Wilson, who was hired two months prior to 2011's signing day, has inked just one four-star prospect over the last two recruiting cycles.
