Wide receiver Charles Callinan (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) committed Thursday to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference for Boston College, multiple sources report. He selected the Eagles over Rutgers.
Callinan posted on Twitter, "I made the decision to commit to Boston College. I'm blessed to be a part of the BC family #BC'17."
UConn also extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-4, 211-pound senior. Michigan State, Penn State, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others, showed interest.
Callinan caught 33 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season earning a first team all-area selection.
The Eagles' class now holds 17 pledges, including three from receivers. Callinan is the first verbal from New Jersey during this recruiting cycle for Boston College, which typically signs multiple prospects from the Garden State.
