Duke lands in-state defensive back

The Blue Devils ended their cold streak on the trail with the addition of cornerback Bryon Fields Jr. (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day), according to multiple reports. Duke now has 16 commitments. Fields is their first pickup since mid-August.

All of his other scholarship offers are from non-BCS and FCS programs including Air Force Appalachian State, Army, Furman, Georgia State, Navy, Richmond and Wofford.

The 5-foot-10, 155-pounder registered a 4.85 40-yard dash, 4.52 20-yard shuttle and 30.9-inch vertical prior to his junior year on the combine circuit.

Fields Jr. will receive a grade and evaluation from ESPN in the near future.
