The Memphis Tigers scored a commitment from three-star sleeper running back Marquis Warford (San Antonio/James Madison), according to multiple sources.
Warford's only other scholarship offer is from Rice. Baylor, Boise State, Clemson, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech and UTSA also recruited the 5-foot-8, 169-pound senior.
ESPN calls Warford "an exciting running back with the elusiveness and playing speed needed to make something out of nothing... a change of pace, utility back who doesn't appear to be an immediate starter at the BCS level of play. However if a redshirt year isn't deemed necessary, early situational playing time on offense and special teams is a distinct possibility."
This spring he posted combine-verified figures, including a 4.56 40-yard dash, 4.41 20-yard shuttle and 31.6-inch vertical.
