Blue Raiders bolster WR corps

Middle Tennessee recruiting coordinator and wide receviers coach Justin Watts commented on his newest pass catchers, Devin Clarke (Sebring, Fla./Butler CC) and Chris Perkins (Hazelhurst, Mo./Pearl River CC), who both signed with the Blue Raiders this month.

Clarke, an ESPN JC 100 prospect, caught 37 passes for 509 yards and 2 touchdowns during two seasons at Butler.

"We are excited to have Devin in our program," Watts said. "He adds a lot of speed and will be an instant downfield threat. Devin can play inside or outside with his combination of size and speed."

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Perkins originally attended Alcorn State out of high school before moving on to Pearl River. He hauled in 26 balls for 359 yards and five scores over the course of the last two seasons.

"Chris is a big, strong, physical receiver who should have an immediate impact on our offense," Watts added. "We look forward to having him here in January so he can go through our offseason workouts and spring practice."

Including their two early pick-ups, the Blue Raiders have 11 recruits pledged for 2013. Clarke is their highest-rated prospect.
