Kent (Conn.) School wide receiver Tevaun Smith is slated to continue his football career in Iowa City, Iowa, playing for the Hawkeyes, The Gazette reports.
Smith, who is originally from Toronto, proclaimed on his Twitter account Thursday night, "Just made it official ... I'm going to be a Hawkeye!" UConn and Temple also offered the 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect.
Iowa defensive end commit Faith Ekakitie (Lake Forest, Ill.) is also originally from Toronto. Additionally, the Hawkeyes are trying to lure running back Akeel Lynch (Athol Springs, N.Y./St. Francis) from Boston College. Smith and Lynch played together prior to high school. Lynch made an official visit to Iowa City last weekend.
Iowa's Class of 2012 has grown to 16 pledges with the pickup of Smith.
