David Shaw accepts offer from Maryland

The Terrapins gained a commitment Sunday night from defensive tackle David Shaw (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove), according to the York Daily Record.

Shaw, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound prospect, was also recruited by Penn State and Pittsburgh.

His older brothers, John and Jim, both played college football at Penn State. John spent his entire career in State College. Jim originally attended Rice before transferring to play for the Nittany Lions. Their father, James, played for Colgate.

Shaw, an All-YAIAA selection last fall, is Maryland's first defensive pledge for 2014. The Terps have secured four verbals during this recruiting cycle.
