Huskers land productive athlete

Rising senior athlete Demornay Pierson-El (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) committed to Nebraska, according to the Omaha World-Herald. He was on campus for the program's Big Red Weekend.

"It was just how comfortable I felt," he said about the experience. "By the end of the night, all my questions were answered. I feel like Nebraska can make me the best [player] possible. Perfect fit."

Boston College, North Carolina and Old Dominion also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-9, 172-pound prospect. Maryland, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia showed interest.

Pierson-El, who expects to play in the slot and return kicks at Nebraska, rushed for 1,658 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior.

His Nike combine figures include an electronically-timed 4.73 40-yard dash, 4.38 20-yard shuttle, 31.2-inch vertical and 73.47 SPARQ.

Pierson-El is Nebraska's ninth commitment for 2014. Cornhuskers wide receivers coach Rich Fisher was his primary recruiter.
