DE Jamone Boyd mum on recruiting

ESPN 300 defensive end Jamone Boyd (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) has an idea of where he’s going to end up.

Don’t expect him to give any hints, however.

Boyd said will keep his recruiting something of a secret in an attempt to do two things – keep all of his options open and keep the lines of communication open for schools thinking about showing interest. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound end, ranked No. 193 in the ESPN 300, is the No. 2 player in Missouri and the No. 16 defensive end nationally for the Class of 2013.

“I think I’ve narrowed it down a little bit,” he said, “but I don’t want to say who. I’m just trying to stay low-key with it.”

Boyd said he doesn’t have a top five, but Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Kansas State are believed to be among his favorites. He took an official visit to Nebraska the weekend of Oct. 26, and he was in Columbia, Mo., last week for Missouri’s game against Syracuse.

Boyd was a sophomore when Lee’s Summit West won a Missouri Class 5 state championship in 2010. This year’s team advanced to the state quarterfinals before falling to Ozark (Mo.). He said his main focus for the offseason is to get faster and to improve on his reaction time after the snap.
