Florida DL picks the Cornhuskers

Kevin Maurice, a senior defensive tackle from Freedom High School (Orlando), has committed to sign with Nebraska, multiple sources report.

Maurice was offered by the Cornhuskers on Thursday. At that time, he told the Orlando Sentinel, “It is a big deal. It was unexpected.”

Despite the announcement, Maurice has a busy January schedule which includes official visit dates to Wake Forest (Jan. 11th) and North Carolina State (Jan. 25th). The Deacons and Wolfpack have not offered. Additionally, he traveled to Boston College for an official in October.

Bowling Green, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Massachusetts, Memphis and Navy were among the other programs to offer the 6-foot-3, 275-pounder.

He was extremely productive this fall registering 68 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.

Maurice is Nebraska's 18th pledge for 2013.
