Last year, one of the FIU coaches made the trip up to Georgia to watch wide receiver commit Nick England (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) in action. Now it looks like England will soon have a familiar face to catch passes from in Miami, as quarterback Brett Sheehan (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) committed to the Golden Panthers on Wednesday.
"I committed to FIU about 45 minutes ago," Sheehan said.
Sheehan visited FIU last weekend, and after coming home, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound passer decided he was ready to make his commitment.
"I really loved the campus and coaches," Sheehan said. "I really felt it was a perfect fit with my teammate going there and them running the same offense. Plus you can't beat being in Miami!"
The Peach State quarterback chose FIU over offers from Georgia State and South Alabama. He is the sixth class of 2013 commitment for Mario Cristobal and his staff, joining three-star offensive tackle Donald Rocker Jr. (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood), offensive linemen Kyle Jones (Mulberry, Fla./Mulberry) and Jason Rae (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay), kicker Emilio Nadelman (Miami/Central) and outside linebacker Jeremy Derrick (Hallandale, Fla./Hallandale)
