Analyst sees Pats' passing game potential

In his "After Further Review" column on CBSSports.com, Pete Prisco looks closer at the Patriots passing game and comes to a conclusion that might surprise some: He thinks it's only a matter of time before the results are better, and are possibly even greater than we've seen in recent years.

All I've heard for the past week is how pathetic the New England Patriots' passing game is right now.

It always includes this line: The receivers stink.

I beg to differ.

The passing game is not working like it normally does, but there are signs that tell me that it will be just fine in a couple of weeks to maybe a month. So if you are going to get the Patriots, now is the time.

Prisco then details his findings using screenshots of a few plays from the Patriots' 13-10 win over the Jets. He specifically liked how undrafted rookie Kenbrell Thompkins released off the line of scrimmage against Antonio Cromartie, and also how second-round draft choice Aaron Dobson got himself open.

"It's only a matter of time before they get the timing right -- and then watch out," Prisco writes.
