OFFENSE (70 snaps)
Quarterback -- Drew Brees 70
Fullback -- Jed Collins 32
Center -- Brian De La Puente 70
Thoughts: Jahri Evans sat out the final six snaps of the game. I’m not sure why. I went back to the tape and didn’t see any apparent injury. Maybe they just decided to rest him with the game out of reach. ... I also don’t think Sproles was injured. I know a lot of people were shocked to see him gain zero yards (myself included). But he did actually lead the Saints with four receptions (two of which went for negative yards). He was still in the game late in the fourth quarter. I think it was just his turn in the rotation to have a quiet day in this deep offense (it’s happened with everyone this season, including tight end Jimmy Graham). ... I can’t remember the Saints ever using five receivers so prominently in one game. Usually they only have four active on game days. Graham’s injury probably led to the decision to use all five of them Sunday. But I’m curious if they’ll stick with this lineup going forward since they like all five of their receivers in various complementary roles.
DEFENSE (71 snaps)
Thoughts: Vaccaro and Lewis banged heads on their final defensive snap and had to be helped off the field by trainers. Both were in the locker room after the game and appeared OK. But it’s too soon to predict whether they’ll have any lingering effects. Same with safety Malcolm Jenkins, who left in the second quarter with an undisclosed leg injury. He said afterward it was more of a precaution. ... With Bunkley fully healthy for the first time all season, the Saints went with an even split between him and rookie nose tackle John Jenkins. This could be the plan going forward to keep both big men fresh -- especially since the Saints have a lot of run-heavy teams on the upcoming schedule, starting with the New York Jets in Week 9.
