Saints injuries: 12 labeled as limited

The New Orleans Saints didn’t practice Monday. But they were required to release a projected injury report, regardless, since they’re playing on Thursday night at the Atlanta Falcons. Only cornerback Jabari Greer was listed as “did not practice.” Twelve others were listed as limited.

That list includes running back Darren Sproles, who suffered both knee and ankle injuries during last Sunday’s 23-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers (though he returned to the game soon after).

Also listed as limited on offense: tight end Jimmy Graham (elbow/foot), tight end Benjamin Watson (concussion), guard Jahri Evans (ankle) and guard Ben Grubbs (neck).

And on defense: linemen Cameron Jordan (ankle), Akiem Hicks (back) and Tyrunn Walker (knee); linebacker Curtis Lofton (hamstring/ankle); safety Kenny Vaccaro (concussion); and cornerbacks Chris Carr (hip/back/hamstring) and Rod Sweeting (hip).

Obviously it’s too early to predict whether any of those players are in jeopardy of missing Thursday’s game. And Tuesday’s injury report probably won’t be much more revealing. Even when the Saints are back on the practice field, they plan to take it easy on everyone physically to help with the quick turnaround.

This week will be mostly walk-throughs and “mental reps.”
