New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after his five-touchdown performance in Sunday’s 42-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brees threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns, and he ran in a fifth touchdown early in the fourth quarter. All four touchdown passes came in a dominant first half -- including touchdown throws of 76, 44 and 41 yards.
I already used the joke earlier this year that they should consider renaming the NFC honor the “Drew Brees award” at some point. But it’s hard to come up with fresh material when he keeps winning the thing.
