METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints signed veteran offensive tackle Tony Hills, according to his agent Mark Slough. New Orleans is now the 10th stop in Hills' eight-year career.
The Saints could just be looking for depth on the offensive line, in general, since they brought in a tackle, a guard and a center for auditions on Tuesday before choosing Hills. Starting guard Jahri Evans has been sidelined the past two weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery.
Hills, 30, has played in only 13 career games with one career start since being drafted in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008. But he has consistently found work, bouncing from practice squads to active rosters.
The 6-foot-5, 304-pounder most recently played in three games for the Cowboys last season before spending a month with the Carolina Panthers in training camp this summer and a week on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad last month.
