Giants signing WRs, promoting OL Adam Gettis to active roster

The New York Giants are set to make a slew of roster moves as they return to work Wednesday to prepare for Monday night's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Giants are signing wide receivers Kevin Norwood and Da'ron Brown to the practice squad while offensive lineman Adam Gettis is being elevated to the active roster, according to multiple sources.

Wide receiver Geremy Davis is also being signed off the practice squad by the San Diego Chargers. He was a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of Connecticut.

Brown, 25, was a seventh-round draft pick by the Chiefs in 2015 out of Northern Illinois. He spent time this season on the New England Patriots practice squad.

Brown and Norwood are insurance for wide receiver Victor Cruz, who could miss this week's game against the Bengals. Cruz sprained his ankle in Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Norwood, 27, has played 10 career games with the Seahawks and Panthers. He had nine receptions for 102 yards for Seattle in 2014.

Gettis returns to the Giants active roster following an injury to starting left guard Justin Pugh, who is out 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL in his right knee. Gettis finished last season on the active roster, when he played in the season finale against the Eagles.

The five-year veteran can play guard and center. He spent the first nine weeks of the season on the Giants' practice squad.

The corresponding move for Gettis remains to be determined.
