FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets cornerback Dee Milliner (hamstring) participated in positional drills during the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday. It's the most work Milliner has done during the open portion since suffering his injury Sept. 25. There is, however, no guarantee he'll be listed as practicing on the official injury report.
Milliner has missed the past two games with the strained hamstring and has yet to practice since suffering it. How the Jets list him on the injury report Thursday could be a telling sign about whether he'll play against the Steelers on Sunday. He started practice doing individual work.
The Jets were without wide receiver Santonio Holmes (hamstring/foot) and tight end Kellen Winslow (knee). It's not looking good for Holmes for Sunday. Winslow is dealing with the chronic pain in his right knee. Friday will be the better day to gauge whether Winslow can go.
Linebacker Quinton Coples (ankle), defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis (back), wide receiver Clyde Gates (knee), running back Mike Goodson (sickness) and safety Jaiquawn Jarrett (knee) all were working during the portion open to the media. None of the five practiced on Wednesday.
Quarterback David Garrard, who was placed on the exempt list Thursday, was practicing.
