Jets sign CB Lewis to active roster

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets filled their roster opening, created Tuesday with the release of cornerback Ellis Lankster, by signing cornerback LeQuan Lewis from the practice squad.

The Jets signed the well-traveled Lewis in training camp when they were hit with a rash of injuries at corner. He made the 53-man roster at the end of the preseason, but he was released when they claimed Leon McFadden on waivers. Lewis was brought back on the practice squad.

To fill his spot on the practice squad, they signed Marcus Williams. Yes, he's another cornerback. Most recently he was with the Houston Texans.
