Rapid Reaction: 2013-14 schedule

Here are the highlights of the Nets’ 2013-14 schedule (Click here for the complete schedule):

SEASON OPENER: The Nets will open their 2013-14 campaign in Cleveland against the Cavaliers on Oct. 30. It may not be coach Jason Kidd’s regular-season head-coaching debut, though, because Kidd may face a suspension after pleading guilty to a DWI charge last summer.

HOME OPENER: The Nets will play their first regular-season game at Barclays Center against LeBron James and the Miami Heat on Nov. 1. The Nets and Heat will also play in Brooklyn on Jan. 10 and in Miami on March 12 and April 8.

RETURN TO BOSTON: Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry will play their first regular-season game in Boston since the blockbuster trade that brought them to Brooklyn on Jan. 26. MarShon Brooks, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries and Keith Bogans will play their first game against the Nets on Dec. 10 (in Brooklyn).

EAST RIVER RIVALRY: The Nets and Knicks will play on Dec. 5 (Barclays), Jan. 20 (MSG), April 2 (MSG) and April 15 (Barclays).

DWIGHTMARE: Dwight Howard will play his first-ever game at Barclays Center on April 1.

CIRCUS TRIP: The Nets will have a seven-game road trip spanning Feb. 13 to March 1, though it will be broken up by the All-Star break.

LONDON BOUND: The Nets and Atlanta Hawks will square off at London’s O2 Arena on Jan. 16.

CHRISTMAS GAME: The Nets will play on Christmas for the second consecutive season. This time, they’ll face the Chicago Bulls, who ousted them from the 2012-13 playoffs, at Barclays Center.

SUPER BOWL APPETIZER: The Nets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 31, two days before Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. On Super Bowl eve, the Nets will play the Pacers in Indiana.

NATIONAL TRENDS: The Nets will play 20 sets of back-to-back games.

NATIONAL TV: The Nets will play on national television 26 times -- including nine times on ESPN, nine times on NBATV and eight times on TNT.
