Terry nearing full strength

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Nets have been taking things slow with Deron Williams and Jason Terry thus far.

Terry, though, may be nearing full strength. After undergoing surgery on his knee after last season, Terry has been cautious until going through almost a full practice on Friday with the Nets.

Terry hopes to increase his practice time in the coming days.

"It felt great to be out there again," Terry said. "It is one thing to be on the side, rah, rah, rah, now you are there in the heat, in the fire, it definitely felt good."

"It responded well," he added of his knee. "Now it is about the buildup. Went an hour and 30 today, next practice hopefully it will be two hours. Once I get to that pace, a live scrimmage, then hopefully that will get me into game action."

Terry will not play Saturday against the Pistons and said he only wants to play in two preseason games which is about his usual norm even when he's healthy.

Williams said there was no new update on his ankle injury. He likely will not play in the Nets' next three preseason games through next Tuesday.
