Postgame notes: Taylor wearing a boot

NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets reserve point guard Tyshawn Taylor was in a walking boot following his team’s 99-88 loss to the Detroit Pistons Saturday night.

Taylor did not play in the second half due to a sore right ankle. He suffered the injury with 1:11 left in the first half when he was fouled from behind by Detroit’s Tony Mitchell as he attempted to convert a layup in transition.

Taylor was upset as he spoke with reporters after the game. He was seeing more time because starter Deron Williams remains out with a sprained right ankle.

"It’s an opportunity," Taylor said. "[Deron]’s definitely going to be sitting out two games and I might be sitting next to him now."


• Assistant coach Lawrence Frank was again not on the bench due to personal reasons. It remains unknown when he’ll return. Kidd did more strolling than sitting on Saturday night as he continues to look more comfortable in his new role as coach.

• The minutes distribution among the starters: Kevin Garnett 11; Paul Pierce 14; Brook Lopez 14; Shaun Livingston 21; Joe Johnson 21.
