Now that free agency has died down, we're taking a look at where the Nets currently stand position-by-position. Today, we look at center.
New additions: None
The starter: Lopez. This one is easy.
The wild card: Plumlee. Again, we don’t know how Lopez is going to play coming off foot/ankle surgery. He may have to take games off to rest, meaning Plumlee could start in his place.
Outlook: It’s all based on Lopez's health. If Lopez is healthy, he's one of the best offensive centers in the NBA. If not, the Nets are probably going to be in trouble. It will be interesting to see how he performs under new coach Lionel Hollins, who certainly got the most out of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph in Memphis. As we noted in our power forward analysis, it’s also unknown how many games Garnett will play. Plus, he’s likely to be on a minutes restriction again, as he is going into his 20th season. Health is going to go a long way toward determining just how deep the Nets are up front.
