Brooklyn will finally take on the Knicks on Monday night, but the Nets' owner will not be in attendance.
Mikhail Prokhorov's publicist, Ellen Pinchuk, confirmed early Monday morning in an e-mail to ESPNNewYork.com that Prokhorov will not be at Barclays Center.
Prokhorov was to be in attendance for the season opener between the city rivals, but it was postponed due to the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy.
Prokhorov was in his owner's box for the team's first two home games before heading back to Russia, where he's currently working on his political career.
Prokhorov has already taken some comical shots at the Knicks, calling them "the second team in New York." He also called Knicks owner James Dolan "that little man."
After purchasing the Nets in 2010, Prokhorov claimed that he was going to "turn Knicks fans into Nets fans."
