Avery: D-Will 'hubbub' just part of process

Nets coach Avery Johnson figures the “hubbub” between himself and point guard Deron Williams is just “part of the cycle of the season.”

“Everybody goes through it. (Greg) Popovich and (Tony) Parker went through it. I went through it with Popovich,” Johnson said Tuesday.

“Quarterbacks and coordinators and head coaches. I’m sure Eli Manning and Coach (Tom) Coughlin, I don’t know if they’ve ever agreed on every single play. But I think coach probably wants him to not throw interceptions. That’s the way it goes. He wants touchdowns, right? That’s the way it is guys. It’s a part of the cycle of the season.”

• The unofficial timeline for Tornike Shengelia to be sent down to the D-League has been pushed back yet again -- due mostly to injuries.

“I think probably now somewhere around the beginning or middle of January,” Johnson said.

Injuries to Jerry Stackhouse and Josh Childress forced the Nets to activate Shengelia for Tuesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

• How do the Nets avoid a trap game against the Jazz? They play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

“We’re not good enough to get trapped yet. We’re not on that level,” Johnson said.
