Nets waive Josh Childress

NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets have waived small forward Josh Childress, the team announced Saturday night.

Childress appeared in 14 games for the Nets, and averaged just 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 7.1 minutes.

Childress, 29, signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract for the veteran’s minimum on Sept. 13.

The Nets had until Jan. 10 to waive Childress before his contract became fully guaranteed.

Brooklyn now has 14 players under contract and one open roster spot.
