P.J. on Heat: Anything can happen

The Miami Heat have won 16 straight games and are eight games ahead of every other team in the Eastern Conference playoff standings.

The Brooklyn Nets (35-26), currently seeded fourth, are 11 back of the Heat (45-14).

“I don’t want to say Miami is unbeatable, but they’ve distanced themselves by how they’ve played,” Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo said. “Anybody that’s saying they’re as good as they are is saying it for a reason. ... But as good as they are, it’s a different animal when you get in a seven-game series.”

• The Nets have had 66 turnovers in their last three games, an alarming number.

“It’s more careless passing than anything,” Carlesimo said.

The Nets are averaging 15 turnovers per game on the season, tied for 13th in the NBA.

• The Wizards will be without shooting guard Bradley Beal (ankle). Trevor Ariza will start in his place.
