NEW YORK -- St. John's guard Dwight Hardy has been named one of 20 finalists for the John R. Wooden Award, given annually to the outstanding collegiate basketball player of the year.
The 6-foot-2 senior guard is averaging 18.0 points per game this season, which ranked him fourth in the Big East. Hardy was named to the all-Big East first team, as well as the conference's Most Improved Player.
Three other Big East players made the final ballot of 20: Notre Dame guard Ben Hansbrough, UConn guard Kemba Walker, and Providence swingman Marshon Brooks.
