One of the worst-kept secrets in college basketball is finally a done deal: former Purdue coach Gene Keady has joined Steve Lavin's staff at St. John's.
Here's the story, from ESPN colleague Andy Katz.
Keady will serve as Special Assistant/Advisor to the Head Coach, and he will be on the bench for games.
Lavin worked for Keady at Purdue from 1988-1991, before moving on to UCLA. Keady was the head coach at Purdue from 1980-2005, and in that time the Boilermakers made the postseason 22 times and won six Big Ten titles.
