Head coach Tom Coughlin talked with reporters on a conference call and here's the non-Eli tidbits:

LB Chase Blackburn said he was feeling better Monday night after he sprained his knee against the Jets and was hoping for the best.

After undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, Blackburn has an MCL injury and will not need surgery according to Coughlin.

“Couple of weeks probably but there won’t be any surgery,” Coughlin said.

WR Ramses Barden also is dealing with a lower back injury. He had his hip and back stretched out for several moments on the sideline on Monday night. Coughlin said the team is trying to figure out whether it is a muscle issue or not.

Coughlin said he was disappointed in his special teams, particularly the kickoff return game and rookie punter Matt Dodge

“We did get a punt blocked,” Coughlin said. “The punter did not perform the way he has to, but I think that these experiences will be good for us going forward.”

Coughlin said he is not so worried that he is contemplating bringing in a veteran punter yet.

Coughlin praised backup QBs Jim Sorgi and Rhett Bomar along with rookies DT Linval Joseph, DE Jason Pierre-Paul and G Mitch Petrus for their performances against the Jets… Sorgi took a huge hit on his second touchdown pass to WR Victor Cruz but Coughlin was told by QB coach Mike Sullivan that the second-string quarterback should be fine.
