A year ago, Osi Umenyiora entered camp ready to do whatever it would take to get a new contract. He sat out practices for a couple of weeks before later opting for minor knee surgery after returning for a few practices and experiencing swelling in his knee.
This year, Umenyiora goes into camp with his contract resolved for the final year of his deal after agreeing to a contract restructure. And that is a major reason why the Giants enter camp looking to defend their title pretty much drama-free.
"I'm happy about it," Umenyiora said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd Show on ESPN radio. "I wanted to be here. Really wanted to be here. That was the most important thing, the two parties both wanted to keep the relationship going. I'm happy and just go out here and play my heart out and try to help my team win a championship."
Umenyiora discussed other topics like the rash of offseason arrests around the NFL and Michael Vick's dynasty talk. Listen here.
