Sorgi ready to help if asked

Jim Sorgi hasn't been asked to share his intimate knowledge of the Indianapolis Colts offense in detail yet.

But he is ready to aid Perry Fewell's defense.

Sorgi spent six seasons as Peyton Manning's backup and knows the Colts offense as well as anybody.

"Very little right now," Sorgi said of if he has been asked to divulge his knowledge of Indy's offense. "If they ask me to, of course, I will help out in any way I can. They haven't really asked for much information as of yet.

"I have a lot of information. Being there six years, I helped put in a lot of the information that they use."

Sorgi, though, admits that he can tell the Giants everything he knows and it won't mean a thing if the defense doesn't execute.

Sorgi had his right arm in a sling after undergoing surgery to repair a torn capsule in his right throwing shoulder last Tuesday.

Sorgi, who was placed on injured reserve, said he will be in the sling for another two weeks or so and then begin three months of rehabilitation.

Shawn Andrews will now be the backup tackle with William Beatty set to undergo surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot on Thursday.

Andrews had been playing guard but has experience at tackle. His six-year prove-it contract does have incentives for him to start at tackle in the future.

The Giants worked out cornerback Dre' Bly on Tuesday, according to the Newark Star Ledger. The Giants have a banged-up secondary. While Aaron Ross is just returning from a plantar fasciitis injury, cornerback Bruce Johnson did not practice due to a knee injury. And S Michael Johnson also did not practice due to a non-injury related issue.

Bly, an 11-year veteran, was recently released by the Lions.
