Practice 411: Locklear at left tackle

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Sean Locklear was brought in to provide veteran insurance at tackle.

On Friday, he was working with the first team with Will Beatty and James Brewer sitting with injuries. Here's some observations from Friday's practice:

• CB Prince Amukamara, working with the first team again, gave up a couple of early completions to Domenik Hixon and Ramses Barden in 11-on-11. Barden also added a nice catch on Corey Webster.

Barden just missed on hauling in what would have been a very tough catch when he dove and got a hand on an overthrown ball while being covered by Michael Coe. But on another play during a two-minute drill, Barden had a catch stripped out of his hands by Coe.

• DT Markus Kuhn showed some impressive strength when the defensive linemen went through a drill against the offensive line. One defensive lineman would line up against the offensive line and try to beat the man in front of him with various moves.

DT Marvin Austin had a particularly nice move up the middle during his turn. Osi Umenyiora got by Locklear on one occasion. Jason Pierre-Paul also looked very good during this drill.

Justin Tuck and David Diehl had a nice showdown, with Diehl able to stave off Tuck for a moment until the defensive end was finally able to get around the edge.

DE Adrian Tracy also was able to get by the left side on Brandon Mosley.

• WR Isaiah Stanback dropped a pass across the middle in traffic. Later, S Chris Horton dropped what could have been an interception. TE Adrien Robinson also had a drop.

• LB Keith Rivers did bring in an interception off a tipped pass. The defensive line tipped another ball in the air during the two-minute drill and LB Spencer Paysinger got a hand on it before the ball was knocked down by LB Mark Herzlich with WR Jerrel Jernigan in the vicinity.

Paysinger had a nice practice, including an impressive rush on David Carr.
