Canty fined for hit on Romo

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Defensive tackle Chris Canty was fined $15,750 for roughing the passer as he struck Dallas QB Tony Romo with the crown of his helmet Sunday, according to an NFL spokesperson.

Canty hit Romo while he was throwing a pass during the first half. He did not get flagged, but the league can still fine players for plays on which there were no flags thrown.

The defensive tackle was playing in his second game of the season against the Cowboys after being activated off the PUP List the week prior. Canty has six tackles and one sack in two games.
