Steppin' to the AM: Everybody is 'on notice'

Well, Jerry Reese sure knows how to deliver a state of the team address.

The general manager made it abundantly clear that he is not pleased with the team missing the playoffs three times in the past four years. And he says everybody's on notice, including himself.

Personally, I loved it. Reese is a smart man and he came out with a clear purpose to motivate his team and create a sense of urgency. Over the first two days of camp, the Giants' leaders have come out and set a firm tone.

Eli Manning said he's energized and eager to prove himself in camp, which will resonate with the team. And now Reese has let everyone know that people should be performing like their jobs depend on it. Good stuff. The Giants usually don't make any headlines or say much at all.

In case you missed it: It was a busy day early on Saturday. Jason Pierre-Paul told reporters he's "75 percent" and isn't sure if he will be ready for the season opener.

Justin Tuck has plenty of fuel for motivation this season.

Matt Ehalt did the first practice report of camp while I was busy writing Jerry putting everybody on notice and the JPP news. Check out our first glimpse at the depth chart.

Ehalt also wrote about David Wilson and Aaron Curry and our man John Clayton is picking the Giants to win the division. Check it all out in the Giants blog.

The 411: Today's autograph day. Practice is scheduled for 1:30-3:45 p.m. at the team facility in East Rutherford, N.J. If there's inclement weather, the Giants will move into the field house. In that case, the makeup date for team autograph day is Saturday, Aug. 3.
