Practice report: New offensive line unveiled

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Giants switched their offensive line for the second straight day due to injury.

So now the Giants' starting line is as follows: LT Will Beatty, LG Kevin Boothe, C Jim Cordle, RG Chris Snee and RT Justin Pugh. With the injuries to David Baas and David Diehl, Tom Coughlin will move forward with two inexperienced starters in Cordle and Pugh.

"Cordle played very well the other night and we thought that was the best move for now," Coughlin said.

Coughlin acknowledged the other option is to put James Brewer at left guard for Diehl and have Boothe play center while Pugh mans the right tackle spot. But for now, the Giants are going with Cordle at center so they can keep Boothe at left guard and Brewer can be the extra lineman in big packages.

The Giants will have two games to see how this lineup looks. But the starters may not play much if at all in the fourth and final preseason game against New England.

Practice 411: WR Kevin Hardy had an up and down day. He dropped one beautifully thrown deep sideline ball from Eli Manning and had another pass thrown behind him glance off his hands into Jayron Hosley's hands for a pick. But Hardy also caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Curtis Painter and finished practice with a bang as he beat Aaron Ross to catch a bomb to end practice... Terrell Thomas continued to look stronger and stronger, coming up with an interception off Ryan Nassib in 7's and dropping another would-be pick... Rueben Randle actually dropped an easy sideline catch that would have been a deep gain as he appeared to perhaps take his eyes off the ball as he tried to keep his feet in bounds... LB Spencer Paysinger had a nice interception off Nassib... WR Marcus Harris made a pretty leaping catch over Trumaine McBride but came down gimpy after the catch... The Giants signed WR Terrell Sinkfield.
