Rolle lobbying for Giants to sign DRC

Think fans are the only ones hanging on every bit of NFL free agency news this time of year? Think again. Players get caught up in it, too.

New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle on Monday morning tweeted his enthusiastic support of his team's pursuit of free-agent cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie:

Rolle and Rodgers-Cromartie were teammates with the Arizona Cardinals in 2008 and 2009, Rodgers-Cromartie's first two years in the league. Rolle signed with the Giants after 2009 and Rodgers-Cromartie was traded to the Eagles a year later. He played two years in Philadelphia and one in Denver and is now a free agent being courted by both New York teams.

Rodgers-Cromartie visited the Jets on Saturday and the Giants on Sunday and was scheduled to take a physical with the Giants on Monday. If signed, he would be one of their starting cornerbacks along with Prince Amukamara, with newly signed Walter Thurmond likely handling the slot cornerback role.

And if he's been on Twitter today, he'd also know he had the very strong public support of the Giants' lone remaining defensive captain.
