The New York Giants have added an average of one free agent per day since the March 11 start of the new league year -- 23 in total, including 13 from outside the organization. It can be tough to keep track of it all. So here's a rundown of the whole crew, with a one-liner for each, just to make sure you're all caught up.
Trumaine McBride (2 yrs., $8.75 million, $100,ooo guaranteed): Starter in second half of 2013 re-signed to back up newcomers at several CB positions
Walter Thurmond (1 yr., $3 million, $2 million guaranteed): Signed to play the slot corner position but can fill in on the outside if need be.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (5 yrs., $35 million, $14 million guaranteed): The biggest of the signings; had to bring up the number to keep him from the Jets.
Zack Bowman (1 yr., $795,000, $65,000 guaranteed): Depth move after the big signings at CB, should help on special teams if nothing else.
Offensive line (4)
Geoff Schwartz (4 yrs., $16.8 million, $4.7 million guaranteed): Signed to start at left guard, one of the big problem positions from the 2013 Giants season.
J.D. Walton (2 yrs., $6 million, $2.5 million guaranteed): Appears slated to start at center after missing nearly two years due to injury.
John Jerry (1 yr., $795,000, $25,000 guaranteed): Named as a lead bully in the Wells report, Jerry can play guard or tackle but must undergo psychological testing before he's allowed to play at all.
Jon Beason (3 yrs., $16.8 million, $6 million guaranteed): Credited with solidifying the defense after arriving in October, Beason is re-signed as an on-field leader.
Mark Herzlich (1 yr., $1 million, non-guaranteed): Giants' best special-teams player in 2013 will be back to help there again and back up at linebacker.
Jameel McClain (2 yrs., $4.5 million, $600,000 guaranteed): Former Raven should start at one of the outside linebacker spots.
Running back (3)
Peyton Hillis (1 yr., $1.8 million, $100,000 guaranteed): Re-signed for depth at running back after a promising audition with the team in 2013.
Rashad Jennings (4 yrs., $10 million, $3 million guaranteed): Looks to be in line for significant carries as the primary running back in the new Ben McAdoo offense.
Defensive line (2)
Mike Patterson (1 yr., $920,000, $300,000 guaranteed): They liked him in 2013, so they re-signed him to help with the defensive tackle rotation in 2014.
Kick returner (2)
Quintin Demps (1 yr., $1 million, $100,000 guaranteed): Can also play safety, but was signed to add speed and explosiveness to a flagging return game.
Trindon Holliday (1 yr., $700,000, $100,000 guaranteed): One of the fastest players in the game. Some fumbling issues, but always a threat to return it for a touchdown.
Wide receiver (1)
Mario Manningham (1 yr., $795,000, $25,000 guaranteed): Former Giants Super Bowl hero returns after two injury-wrecked seasons in San Francisco.
Curtis Painter (1 yr., $795,000, $65,000 guaranteed): Eli Manning's backup never plays, so they must like Painter as a scout team QB. Can developmental prospect Ryan Nassib pass him as the No. 2 this year?
Josh Brown (2 yrs., $2.5 million, $100,000 guaranteed): Did just fine for Giants after a rocky start in 2013.
