Giants announce cuts and undrafted rookie signings

The Giants made their first cuts of the season.

They officially released C Shaun O’Hara, G Rich Seubert, FB Madison Hedgecock, LT Shawn Andrews and RB Tiki Barber was released off their reserve/retired list.

Hedgecock was the only player that had not been previously reported as a player the Giants would cut. He played in four games last year before a hamstring injury landed him on the injured reserve. TE Bear Pascoe started and played well in his place.

DT Rocky Bernard is expected to be released tomorrow after he could not restructure his contract.

The team also announced the signings of 10 undrafted rookie free agents: Boston College LB Mark Herzlich, Florida DE Justin Trattou, South Florida DE Craig Marshall, Richmond DT Martin Parker, Arkansas Pine-Bluff DT Ibrahim Abdulai, Georgia Tech S Jerrard Tarrant, Iowa State S David Sims, Oregon LB Spencer Paysinger, South Carolina T Jarriel King and Pittsburgh FB Henry Hynoski.

All eyes will be on Herzlich from this list but Hynoski could also have a legitimate shot of earning a roster spot if the Giants do not sign a veteran fullback in free agency. However, the best fullback on the market, Houston’s Vonta Leach, has mentioned the Giants as a team on his list.
