The Giants had their first training camp practice and here are some things we learned today:
Plaxico Burress visited the Steelers on Saturday and could be meeting with the 49ers and Jets soon. He told the Newark Star-Ledger that he hasn't ruled out any team yet, including the Giants.
The Osi Umenyiora holdout ended after one night as the defensive end reported to camp on Saturday. He did not practice and has yet to undergo his physical.
The defensive end still wants a new contract or a trade and does not plan on speaking to Jerry Reese.
There certainly will be more to come on this situation.
ARE WE TALKIN' ABOUT PRACTICE?
Because there are several free-agent signings and players who cannot practice until next week due to the new transition rules, the Giants had to adjust with their lineups. RG Chris Snee took snaps at center with Adam Koets sidelined by patella tendonitis from the ACL surgery he had last year. Coughlin said it took him by surprise.
David Baas cannot practice until next week due to the transition rules of being a free-agent signing.
Undrafted rookie free agent Henry Hynoski worked with the starters at FB as did D.J. Ware at RB with Brandon Jacobs unable to practice until next week due to restructuring his contract.
CB Aaron Ross had the highlight of the day with the camp's first pick-six off Sage Rosenfels when he jumped a route.
Your first-team linebackers on the first day of practice: Michael Boley, Jonathan Goff and Clint Sintim.
DT Linval Joseph was also with the first-team on defense. Rookie DT Marvin Austin had some impressive moments working against the second-team.
WR Devin Thomas had a few impressive catches working against the defense.
WR Ramses Barden (ankle) and Koets did not practice.
