Ramses Barden remains on the physical-unable-to-perform list.
And he remains uncertain as to when he’ll return.
“Couldn’t tell you,” said Barden, who is still recovering from offseason surgery to clean out his ankle. “I don’t think it’s months away, but I feel it coming soon. I hesitate to say anything with specifics because I don’t know.”
The 25-year-old wide receiver underwent an MRI the other day that showed no bone issues with his ankle. But he remains on PUP, and with the regular season fast approaching, Barden has to get off the list soon. Otherwise, he risks missing the Giants’ first six games.
“I’m working so that’s not the case,” Barden said. “I hope to be back before then.”
Head coach Tom Coughlin has been very outspoken about his desire to get Barden back on the field and into training camp.
“Barden, get out here for crying out loud!” Coughlin said almost two weeks ago.
“It’s frustrating,” Barden said. “The dog days of camp are tough, but you’d much rather be out there grinding with your teammates than doing crunches and exercises.
“I appreciate the urgency from the coaches. It makes me feel like they want me out there fast, and it gives me that confidence knowing they’re anxious to use me.”
