Training camp Day 6 recap

Day 6 is in the books. Here’s some highlights from the Giants practices and I swear no more injury-talk!

Rookie P Matt Dodge had to deal with windy conditions today. It appeared he was trying some directional punts to the left corner and several sailed out of bounds while Jeff Feagles watched on and mentored.

WR Ramses Barden turned in his catch of the day as he turned and caught a ball while falling down on CB Corey Webster in a 7-on-7 drill.

The defense ended practice for the second straight day with a bang. The team finished with goal line snaps and the unofficial count from the beat writers was the offense going 0-for-6 at the goal line.

Granted, the second-team offense was trying to push it in on the majority of the snaps. But the defense stuffed RB Brandon Jacobs on one run. Then it stopped Andre Brown on two carries. On one of the stops, linebacker Chase Blackburn popped Brown, who got up. But the damage had been done. Defense held strong the delight of defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.

CB Terrell Thomas continues to have a solid camp. He seems to be knocking down a lot of passes that come his way. He has dropped a couple of interceptions, however.

His competition, Aaron Ross, did come up with an interception in the red zone on Eli Manning. Ross is having a good start as well in camp.

G Guy Whimper and rookie G Mitch Petrus saw some reps with the first team at guard while C Adam Koets filled in for Shaun O’Hara.

MLB Keith Bulluck dropped an interception in the red zone but he is moving well with the second team thus far.
