ALBANY, N.Y. — Tournament MVP Breanna Stewart had 22 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks as Cicero-North Syracuse cruised to a 60-28 victory over Murry Bergtraum in the Class AA final Sunday at the New York State Girls Basketball Federation Tournament of Champions.
Sarah Bowles added 14 points for the Northstars (23-3), who never trailed. Brittany Paul scored 13 points.
Shequanna Harris had 15 points to lead the Lady Blazers (17-8), who shot just 13 percent from the field.
UConn-bound Stewart, who scored 42 points in the semifinal, shattered the tournament record of 52— set in 2004 by Murry Bergtraum's Epiphany Prince and equaled in '06 by Lorin Dixon of Christ the King — with 64 over two games.
After tying the single-game record of 23 rebounds in the semis, Stewart also set a new tourney rebounding mark of 38, besting the 34 boards Shakeya Leary totaled for Murry Bergtraum in 2007.
Twelve-time finalist Murry Bergtraum represented the PSAL out of Manhattan.
Cicero-North Syracuse, from the PHSAA's Section 3, reached the championship with an 80-55 win over Nazareth in Saturday's semifinal round.
