Report: Isles wanted No. 2 pick BADLY

The Islanders wanted the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft badly. So badly, in fact, that they were willing to give up all of their picks for it.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Islanders offered 4, 34, 65, 103, 125, 155 and 185 to the Blue Jackets for 2.

That’s right: seven picks to move up two spots.

Columbus declined and took promising defenseman Ryan Murray.

New York selected blueliner Griffin Reinhart two picks later.

The Islanders would end up spending all seven of their picks on defensemen.
