Buyout window looming for Richards

The window for teams to begin utilizing their two allotted compliance buyouts begins Wednesday at approximately 11 p.m. -- 48 hours after the end of the Stanley Cup finals, per CBA rules -- and according to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, Rangers veteran center Brad Richards remains in the dark about his future in New York.

Richards' agent, Pat Morris, told ESPN.com that he has yet to receive a definitive answer from the Rangers regarding a potential buyout of his client's contract.

Teams have until July 4 to exercise the buyout before the window closes and free agency opens the following day.
