NEWARK, N.J. -- There's always a first time for everything -- even for New Jersey Devils interim coach Jacques Lemaire.
For the first time in his 17-year coaching career, Lemaire has kept the same lines in-tact.
"There's always a first time," Lemaire said. "And I had to come back to do it."
Here are those line combinations:
Brian Rolston-Patrik Elias-Dainus Zubrus
Ilya Kovalchuk-Travis Zajac-Nick Palmieri
Mattias Tedenby-Jason Arnott-Vladimir Zharkov
Tim Sestito/Adam Mair-Rod Pelley-David Clarkson
"I got no other matchups," Lemaire said. "Last year, I had more matchups that I could do. This year, this is what I see. It's working."
As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
"When guys are playing well, you don't look as much," Lemaire said. "If the team is losing, you gotta look at what can I improve. But I see changes coming up soon."
Lemaire also foresees a dip coming soon. But since the second half of the season, during this current 13-1-2 stretch, that hasn't happened yet.
Will it? We'll just have to wait and see.
