Okposo scratched again, DiPietro to start, Nilsson back up

Surprising news of the day came from coach Jack Capuano, who said that 23-year-old assistant captain Kyle Okposo will be scratched for the third straight game.

Seems as though Capuano is trying to send a message that no one on the team -- not even one of its most well-respected young leaders -- is safe.

Rick DiPietro is starting in goal against the Bruins; recently-recalled Anders Nilsson, who took part in the team's optional skate Saturday morning, will back him up.

The Islanders used a record-setting six goaltenders last season and have lost two more over the last 48 hours with injuries to Evgeni Nabokov (groin) and Al Montoya (hamstring).

What does Capuano make of the current situation in net?

"I don't know if it has that feeling of "Here we go again," but when we lost one last year it wasn't as bad as When you lose two in one week," he said. "We have some depth at that position. Anders Nilsson and Kevin Poulin are playing exceptionally well and the goaltenders here were playing well too, so we're happy to have the depth that we have."

Defenseman Mark Eaton will replace Mike Mottau in the lineup; the latter was benched after making a couple of mistakes during the team's 4-3 win over Montreal Thursday.
